Trending: Baroque For Holiday (Part 2 of 3)

Holiday parties are the perfect excuse to go over-the-top with your look. Because Baroque is outre by nature, incorporating it into your holiday look will allow you a fresh alternative to the obnoxious, over-sequined-and-bowed ensembles seen in every holiday advertisement.

To achieve this look, I layered a vintage Giorgio Armani in red brocade fabric over a feathered BCBG dress.  While I find the natural, shorter hemline of the Armani dress perfect for summer/fall transition in August and September, I find the added length achieved by the feathers of the BCBG dress more apropos for the winter season.  The festive red fabric and the almost ornament-shape of the purse make this look distinctly holiday.

I purchased this unique purse while traveling in India.  Even more distinctly holiday than it’s round shape is the soft jingle made by its tiny bells

While gold is more traditionally associated with Baroque styling, the silver in the accessories shown here prove that silver can be just as opulent. This is actually two necklaces layered on top of one another. Both were purchased from Forever 21 for less than 10 dollars.

Finally, the black feathers of the vintage fascinator along with the velvet bows and ornate be-jeweling of the Lacroix shoes bring this look together from head-to-toe.
