Todays’ “Around the World Wednesday” OOTD is from one of my favorite places in the world: Poolside in Miami Beach! These photos were taken by my favorite photographer and dearest friend, Steven of @aHUMANad. Over the past 10 (?) years, I have collaborated with Steven numerous times and have become a bit of a muse. While modeling is secondary to my love for styling, the model-photographer chemistry between myself and Steven is an experience unlike any other. Part of that chemistry is his ability to see me the way I see myself. His keen eye always finds my best angles, leaving me comfortable to freely explore movement and form. Steven always pushes me to do the unexpected– like he did on the day of this shoot, when we decided to take the shoot INTO the pool, fully clothed!
From the bright colors to the retro up-do hairstyle, this OOTD is SO Miami Beach. I built the look around an incredible hot pink formal dress from the 1960’s that I chose to wear over multi-color sequin booty shorts from TopShop. I chose bright, colorful accessories to play up the bright, colorful print in this dress. My retro teal sunglasses and the top rhinestone necklace are both cheapies from Forever 21. Both my earrings and (bottom) necklace are vintage from the 1950’s. The necklace is particularly special to me because it was given to me by my mother. I got my love for fashion from my mother and am so lucky to have inherited so many of the beautiful pieces from her closet. This necklace is by the infamous costume jewelry designer, Juliana. While the sunburst shape is one of the Juliana staples, the beautiful blue color of the stones in this one are extremely rare. The final touch to the accessories are the patent leather, hot pink pumps that are perfect to lay by or IN the pool.
