Drag Queens, Kinky Boots, and a Case of the BLUES

I recently saw”Kinky Boots”, a new Broadway Musical directed by Cyndi Lauper.  If you love men dressed as women, Cyndi Lauper, or things that are kinky, race to see this show on Broadway!  I knew nothing of the show when I was invited; my expectations were set very low.  I can tell you, it is one of the best shows I have seen on Broadway in a very long time.  There is no “lull” typical of even the best Broadway scripts, and the music and costumes get better and better as the show progresses.  Plus it has an inspiring, “kinky” story-line that a girl like me can appreciate.  Here is a still of the show– CAN SOMEONE BREAK INTO WARDROBE AND STEAL ME THESE BOOTS!!!

In honor of this show, I styled this post with my very own “kinky boots.”  These are from Mister Christian Louboutin and are easily one of my favorite items in my closet.  I call them the “Clydesdale Boot” because the heavy fringe on the back of the boot makes a whipping noise as you walk.  If you like the way these boots look, you will LOVE the way the sound.  If the Broadway Musical and these boots are any indication, there’s something about sexy boots that just makes you wanna DANCE.

The rest of the look is all about layers: A vintage 1950’s fur stole, layered over the Willow blue leather peplum jacket, layered over a black turtleneck from Theory, layered over a tie-die dress from the W Boutique.  This morning, my Intermix e-mail was titled “Blue Notes”.  Unintentionally, I have been styling everything BLUE lately!  I think it’s the perfect cold to warm weather transition color, plus with blue eyes… how can I resist? This may be the best kind of blues one can have– BRING on SPRING!

The fur is Vintage 1950’s Blue crystal fox spotted lynx and black mink.  I got it off eBay, and I am loving how it’s intense color pops against almost anything.

I kept the accessories to a minimum, but I did include by trusty Valentino Perfume Pendant from the 80’s… I think I need to be banned from wearing it for awhile… But I just can’t get enough!

(Check out another way I styled the Valentino Necklace here.)

And last, but certainly not least, …the Christian Louboutin Fringed Boots.  Amazing in every way.

    1. I just love it, it was even better when it still had it’s tiny capsule of Valentino Perfume hidden inside (I have since lost it!)
