Halloween Inspiration from the Graveyard…

GingerSnaps Halloween Inspired OOTD 2

With All Hallows Eve quickly approaching, I thought it was the perfect time to share two of my favorite shoots, both set in cemeteries.  One of many cool things in New York City’s financial district, are the beautiful cemeteries.  My favorite is the Trinity Church Yard located at the top of Wall Street, directly in front of the old American Stock Exchange.  I love the juxtaposition of fashion in uncommon settings.  In the first set of photos I am sharing today, I combined (mostly) vintage elements to evoke the Mourning Attire worn by women in the Victorian Era.

Starting from the top, my accessories include a vintage veil draped over a tilt hat.  The ornate gold stitching of the velvet corseted belt, over-sized gold earrings, and delicately embellished satin Casedei shoes give the look tasteful glamour.  Finally, I pulled the cream and black of the corset and skirt together with a miniature snakeskin embossed vintage pocketbook and black cinching belt from Armani Exchange.

In the second set of images from the graveyard, I am joined by one of my beautiful friends, Maria King.  The setting was the cemetery at St. Pauls Churchyard, directly adjacent to the World Trade Center.  I styled us both in contrasting lady-like attire.  While we are both giving a lady-like vibe, Marias’ look is traditional, while my look has more edge.

On the left, Maria wears a vintage Bill Blass Dress.  I love how the camel color pops against her caramel skin.  Her hat, earrings, and bracelet are vintage; her modern accessories include a Chanel handbag and Gucci sunglasses.  On the right, I am wearing a sheer BCBG Max Azria Blouse over a lace bra paired with a Latex Pencil Skirt. (See more on this Latex Find, including where to buy one of your own, in THIS past post from the streets of London featuring the lovely Gemma.)  My accessories include a cinching belt by Kiki de Montparnasse and vintage fascinator.  We are both wearing modern shoes with a kitten heel and vintage appeal.  Maria wears classic Manolo Blahniks and I am in studded Valentino t-straps.  I am not typically a fan of “kitten heels”; the name is a lot sexier than the reality.  However, I do make exceptions for exceptional shoes like the ones we are wearing today.

If you love Maria’s Vintage Bill Blass Dress, you are in luck!  I recently listed it for sale on ShopGingersCloset.com.  Also listed is the Mini Crocodile Bag I am wearing in the first set of photos.  Check out the links to these amazing treasures below:
