In honor of the start of 2016, I wanted to share a New Years Eve Look, part of my #TripleXXX Collaboration with Miss Sabado and Modern Vice. I styled this festive look in all black to be very dark, seductive, and maybe even a tad bit sinister. While putting the look together, I had the wicked fashion of well-dressed female villains in mind, like Maleficent and Cruella De Vil. I often find myself drawn to the fashions of a strong female villain; tomorrow, I plan on sharing all of my Favorite Famous Female Villain Fashions.
Todays’ look is a combination of black lace and feathers. The look begins with a completely sheer black lace dress that is embellished with black feathers. Each circular cluster of feathers at the hem is designed to look like a spider, giving the dress dimension and movement. On top of the dress, I chose to pair a cape made of black feathers by TopShop. To cover her unmentionables, I chose a sexy, black teddy and tights instead of a slip. I love the risque peek of cleavage and outline of her legs. The opaque and sheer panels of the tights make them particularly slimming. These tights are also a surprisingly cheap find from Forever 21. I love buying hosiery from Forever 21 in bulk, because I never have to feel annoyed when they inevitably end up with a run.
I continued the bird motif of the look into the accessories. Ramona wears a plume of black feathers on top of her head and a gold necklace with an over-sized wing pendant around her neck. In the close up of this vintage piece, you will see that the wing opens to make a sort of butterfly. The back of the wings are as intricate as the front. Tucked on the back of one of the wings is a place to slip a rolled up piece of paper where you are intended to write a “wish”; as you wear the necklace, you keep your wish close to your heart.
The balance of her accessories include vintage gold “Sputnik” earrings, black embellished gloves, and Gold Metallic Bowie Bootie by Modern Vice.
Following todays’ look, I included a snapshot of me wearing this same holiday look, while out and about with my girlfriend Brie and the editor of GLASSbook Magazine, Jasmine this past holiday season. I also included a photo of another way I have styled the TopShop Feather Cape a few years ago, while visiting London.
