Ah, St. Patrick’s Day. A holiday that is unashamed to admit what all holidays are really about– getting trashed. A few years ago, I agreed to host five Irish girls over the summer in my apartment. They made me a believer that, when it comes to fun with drinking, no one does it as well as the Irish. About the time normal people are stumbling and calling a taxi, these 100-pound Irish girls would ask (sober), “So where’s the next pub?” While I will not be dodging green puke today, I will show my Irish enthusiasm by donning some of my favorite green accessories. This outfit was built around this fabulous vintage hat. It was initially used as the topper for a Carrot Halloween Costume, but I have found many ways to wear it since then. Next week on the blog, I am going to be featuring some of my very favorite vintage hats and covering Modern-day Millinery. Stay tuned!
Kelly green is one of the most under-utilized colors in modern fashion. This mid-century wool coat with fur accents is surprisingly versatile. In a sea of black coats, it’s the perfect way to stand out in NYC.
This over-sized Valentino pendant (that hides a perfume vial inside) is from the 1980’s and is my go-to accessory since I found it on eBay.
The earrings are from Topshop and are the perfect under-stated addition to almost any outfit. The handbag is equally versatile due to the wide array of color.
This hat got it’s debut as the top to a Carrot Costume a few Halloweens back. It is such a stand-out, conversation-starting piece no matter how you wear it. The shoe is from (embarrassingly enough) Charlotte Russe circa 2005. It’s the perfect emerald green and, despite it’s cheap price, appears chic.
