It’s all Gaultier on the blog this week it seems, but how could I resist showing you the snaps I took while taking in the INCREDIBLE Jean Paul Gaultier Exhibit at The Brooklyn Museum??
Serious drooling and inspiration to follow… If your jones-ing for Gaultier after this, take a look at yesterdays OOTD in the Vintage Gaultier “Va-Jacket”.
The show opened with a wall of singing mannequins in regal attire leading up to a mannequin of Gaultier himself welcoming you to his exhibit.
Me and the man himself– one day I dream of a real face to face encounter with his majesty.
Seashells and heavily embellished metal corsetry– dying!!!
Look at the detail! I seriously can only imagine how heavy this is…
Punk Rock Chic! Mohawk me up!
The detail of the fringe in this piece is just insane. Couture Couch, anyone?
I know these iPhone snaps are hard to make out. But if you look closely, this piece is made with a blazer entire on the front of the body. How awesome is that?
His Can-Can Inspired skirt has LEGS imprinted on the underside– so obvious yet so original at the same time.
The Kiss. Ugh. Mosaic sequins show a lovers embrace. Fabulous.
Gaultier does Christian Gray.
These body suits are made to look like the bones, muscles, and veins of the body. My kind of “Bodies Exhibit”.
Un umbrella dripping human hair… now I have a use for all of those old extensions! (JK) (Ok, maybe not.)
Playa Wedding if I have ever seen one.
This coat appears to be made of leopard fur, but on closer investigation you can see that it is actually FEATHERS!!! UGH!
The face with THE FACE (aka Maria King).
