The Noon by Noor show was shown early in New York Fashion Week. The collection really set the tone for NYFW and was a perfect preview of what we now know as Spring/Summer 2014. Of course, with Solange Knowles in attendance, it had to be good!
Noon by Noor was one of the few shows that chose to go with a rich, bold color palette instead of pastels. Like Emerson (See my coverage of Emerson by Jackie Fraser Spring 2014 Collection here) I love the royal blues and eggplant purples the line incorporated in floral and graphic prints alike. Some other trends seen were crop tops, jumpsuits, colored leathers, and mixing graphic prints. Let’s take a closer look!
These first three pieces are my favorite. I love how the sleek, sateen fabrics are embellished with delicate, silk flowers giving dimensions and texture. The first two pieces show how this line does formal wear in trends typically restricted for casual attire. In the first, a cropped-top is worn with a floor length skirt as an alternative to a formal gown. However, this cropped top worn with a satin short or skirt could as easily be worn for a day-time look. Jump suits are all the rage this spring. While typically jumpsuits are considered more casual attire, this piece is made to be worn dressy at night. Brilliant! The third look includes my favorite shorts from the collection that are covered in adorable silk flowers. I love how they are styled here color blocked with a bright orange blouse tucked-in, but they could just as easily be worn with a printed cropped-top. Must have!
In addition to the royal jewel-toned purple and blues, I love the eggplant purple she chose. With so much of the gross “pepto bismal purple” seen on (almost every) runway, it was refreshing to see the color purple incorporated in an appropriate way. (More on the teeth-rotting, pepto-bismal-ly purple later this week when I cover what I did NOT like at NYFW.)
This eggplant purple colored leather was crafted into a long pencil skirt as well as a short, high-waisted short. The color pairs well with a white blouse in the first look as well as it does with a lavender sheer blouse in the second.
I was happy to see graphic prints as well as florals in this collection. Look how well the chosen prints pair with each other in these looks! Incredible.
