Todays’ patriotic shoot for Memorial Day is not only the first of Summer, it’s also the first from the beautiful Boston Common Park, one of my favorite places in the world! The historic city of Boston was the perfect backdrop for todays’ Patriotic OOTD, particularly amongst the memorial of 37,000 American flags that are on display this weekend. Each year, the city of Boston places a flag in honor of each of the fallen soldiers from Massachusetts since the Revolutionary War.
My Retro Patriotic OOTD seems particularly relevant for this holiday, because it calls back to a time when our country was at war in Vietnam. With the exception of my Dior frames and Lanvin shoes, my entire look is from the 1960’s, a time where our servicemen were all too often making the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. Standing in the middle of a sea of 37,000 flags, it is hard not to be taken with the magnitude of the true cost to freedom. I am certainly in awe of all of our servicemen, past and present.
