OOTD: How to Incorporate Accents of Asia into a Modern Wardrobe

Asian Global Style 1

Today’s OOTD is the last of a series on how to wear Asian Inspired Trends, even if you are not Asian yourself.  If you missed it, last week Lindsay and Anna joined me to show you three ways I style Vintage Asian Dresses.  Today, they we are dressed in the same Asian Trend, but with a more Modern Perspective.

On the left, Lindsay is wearing one of my absolute favorite long sleeve tops of all time.  Kimono style tops, like this one, come and go in fashion; it seems almost every designer has done a take on this classic shape.  I love the fabric and perfect cornflower blue color of this silk rendition by BCBG Max Azria, but it is the unique cut of the sleeves that make it truly striking.  I paired the blouse with sequin leggings from Ralph Lauren.  I originally bought these leggings for a holiday party, but have been surprised to find ways to wear them all year round.  The accessories include two necklaces: the shorter is from Forever 21, while the longer one was a find at Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sale.  Check out this AMAZING SALE going on NOW online at the link below!

In the middle, I am wearing a vintage dress with a Mandarin Collar.  Though vintage, this dress is very modern from its short hemline to its incredible, bright green color and print.  Adding to the modern appeal, are the edgy accessories; the brass-knuckled clutch by Alexander McQueen works perfectly with the leather and studs of the epaulet by Bird.  On top I am wearing a vintage hat.  My heavily embellished, multi-color shoes by Balenciaga bring the whole look together when worn with short hosiery by TopShop.  My favorite part of this outfit, however, is my vintage green unicorn ring.

On the right, Anna wears a beautiful Asian-Inspired Silk Track Jacket.  What makes the various elements of Annas’ outfit so incredible, is that they are almost all under $50!  I couldn’t believe how cheap, yet chic her Asian Track Jacket was when I found it on the racks of ZARA last year!  The rose gold, metallic heel on her wedges makes them deceivingly expensive-looking; I picked them up while hunting around my favorite cheap jewelry source: FOREVER 21!!  For added swank, I embellished them with vintage shoe clips. Her (real) leather backpack is a find from Aldo.  Her MnA leggings are the only exception to this otherwise inexpensive outfit.

Hope you enjoy these Modern, Asian-Inspired Outfits, and please vote for them (and all of my other looks) to vote for me to be included in Vanity Fair International Best Dressed List at this Link!
