After yesterday’s Parisian Inspired Post, I thought it was time for a Parisian OOTD. Parisians are always in style. Judging from the fashion mags like Elle, inparticular, Parisian-inspired style is big, big, BIG this Fall.
The Saturday of New York Fashion Week also coincided with the Parisian Ball on Governors Island (doesn’t that seem like at least 3 years ago?). Having seen pictures and heard rave reviews of the DJ’s and art that happens at previous Parisian Balls, I thought I should take a break from Fashion Week for a few hours and head out to the island to see what all the fuss was about. Alas! The ball conflicted with the Venexiana Show which I simply could not miss… (see coverage of the Venexiana Spring 2014 Collection here). However, I decided to still dress in the Parisian spirit and attend a pre-party at a friends before they headed off to the ball. Here are a few snaps of what I wore, followed by photos from Elle Magazines Parisian Inspired Spread from a few months back. Hope this inspires you to get into your own Parisian look– don’t be afraid of the beret! (or vintage beret as it was in my case).
My OOTD starts with this amazing top by Mackage. I love the detailing on the sleeves, although it takes a long time to re-hook them each time I wear it! The silhouette with oversized shoulders are balanced well by my sleek Vintage Chanel Leather Pencil Skirt (see how I wore this skirt in the Baroque Trend last Fall). My accessories include a vintage scarf and earrings and (though you can’t see them here) my Christian Lacroix shoes. I topped it off with a vintage beret– piece of cake!
