Rain, Rain, Go Away

It’s been raining or snowy or dreary in New York City lately and the only redemption has been my being able to wear these fabulous, rubber-bottomed Duck Boots from Tommy Hilfiger.  Like most of my closet, these boots have a story.  In the months leading up to their release, they were featured in every major publication.  Anticipating their popularity and fearing that I would miss out on purchasing the boots, I visited the Tommy Hilfiger Flagship on 5th Avenue no less than 30 times.  Each time I had to walk all the way up the four flights of the spiral staircase to inquire about the boots arrival.   The day the boot came in I missed the phone call and thought I was going to be without my coveted boots.  Turns out, however, that there were five pairs earmarked with my name and I swiped and carried the boots off to their new home.  They always get crazy compliments, and I have only ever seen one other person wearing them.  Thinking she was going to have a similar story of the effort she put in to scoring the shoes, I approached her with my story… only to find out she is engaged to one of Hilfigers sons.  Must be nice.

This look is full of texture and warmth.  I love to wear this Zara cape draped over the shoulders or in its full glory with the hood.  The dress is made out of a thick corduroy which off-sets it’s micro-mini-ness.

Making her Ginger Snaps debut is my beloved Yorkie, Gracie Mae.  She is almost always with me, and has twice my style and attitude.  She even shakes her ass when she struts down the street.  For those of you worried I might be one of “those girls” who uses her dog as an accessory… trust me, she thinks I am HER accessory and my only purpose is to entertain and please her.  Regardless, she has my heart and we are a package deal whether I be vacationing, working, or (her favorite) shopping.

I completed this look with a silk scarf and broach thrown around my neck.  I often dress up a simple blouse or sweater with a silk scarf and find it the perfect accessory should you get caught in bad weather unexpectedly.
