It was an honor to attend and cover the Spring 2014 Collection of Katya Leonvich last week. Throughout the collection, Leonovich respects what Spring Fashion is all about: warming temperatures making us want to show more skin, light, flowing fabrics that move about the body, and bright color palettes in multi-color prints. One of the most pervasive trends at Fashion Week is COLORED LEATHER, especially in Purple and Pink. Katya Leonovich’ Collection featured many leather pieces in a rainbow of colors. Check out how I have styled COLORED LEATHER in a previous post here!
Here are a few snaps I took at the show followed by the official images from the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Website with my thoughts. Let me know how YOU feel about this collection in the comments section below.
The purple leather pants at Katya Leonvich show were, by far, my favorite of any designer. I love how perfectly they hug the legs; oftentimes, leather pants have a tendency to sag in the bag or under the crouch. The unique ruffle detail makes them stand out, but doesn’t add volume to the hips.
The Magenta Pink Leather Dress was also show-stopping. I love the texture achieved by layering jagged-edged pieces of leather. I also love how the design is carried to the back of the dress.
The gold sheen in this dress offsets the almost army green undertone. The excessive ruffles and asymmetric straps give it an almost jungle feel. Gorgeous.
(Top Left) The first dress down the runway set the stage for the collections attention to draping and movement. Perfect for Spring, these pieces invite the wind to flow through them. Even the leather dresses were constructed with loose, delicate ruffles that moved about the model as she walked.
(Top Right) The last look of the show, this dress was one of the most stand-out pieces of the collection. Gold has been seen down many of the Spring 2014 runways; this design, like it’s hue, catches the eye immediately.
(Bottom Left) A sleek black leather dress with a plunging neck-line. I love the design created by how she chose to lace up both the front and the back of the dress (see the back below in my own snaps from the show). Whether it be your sneakers or your dress, you can always stand-out by re-stringing your laces in your own creative style.
(Bottom Right) Finally, the texture of these pink pants is incredible. It is hard to see from this photo, but the print is created by the texture of the pants. The draped, off-shoulder cut of the blouse are perfect over the slim fit of the pant.
